By working closely with the BCP Council Parks & Recreation Team, we won a £73,000 grant award from Veolia Landfill Communities Grant for the Woodpecker Play Area!
But, under the terms of the grant we need to raise 10% of this via private funding to unlock the £73k.
Please help in any way you can - we are gift aid registered, and so we can claim back 20% tax on every £1 donated.
This award must be used for the main play area, and we will run a further community consultation enabling you to tell us what you want. A further £150k has been allocated by BCP Council under the play strategy that can now be used for older children and parents/ carers to make a true destination play area.
Karen and her team of volunteers are doing a great job with the open space to create an urban garden, with many stopping by and suggesting what a fantastic canvas that brick wall makes for some artwork!
We asked the community if they would like to see artwork (think earthy tones & nature context), to be left as-is, or hide the wall with shrubbery and planting.
Many think a mural preferable, and we are asking for your help to enable us to make a masterpiece.
We plan to run a community consultation in March or April 2025 to agree the style and finalise the design.
