Creation of our Neighbourhood Plan

Green road sign reading 'Welcome to Charminster, Borough of Bournemouth' with a coat of arms

Last year BCP council completed the Local Plan - a document submitted to central government documenting how the Council expects to meet central government set building targets for new homes, and how our built environment is expected to meet this challenge over the next 5 years.

All wards in BCP have been allocated a target for new housing units, including our ward area of Queens Park, Charminster and Strouden Park.

A number of planning decisions have already been made that the local residents have not agreed with, and their voices have not been heard. But, we can work together to create a Neighbourhood Plan that the council must work in accordance with when making planning decisions.

A number of Neighbourhood Plans have already been documented and voted into acceptance, including:

  • Boscombe and Pokesdown
  • Broadstone
  • Sandbanks and
  • Poole Quays.
We are in the early stages of creating one for for our ward, and have successfully been awarded almost £10,000 by Locality to assist with its creation.

A working group has been created by our charity to coordinate the creation of our Neighbourhood Plan. This can only succeed with the engagement and feedback from you, our community.

So if you are “Say no to HMO”, or “Build more flats, and build a better community” join us and have your say!
